Small Game Hunting Licenses

The following are licenses and permits that apply to Tennessee's small game hunting seasons. Licenses go on sale on Feb. 18 each year and are valid from March 1 throug February 28 of the following year. Licenses can be purchased from many retailers across Tennessee, most county clerk offices, or any office of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Licenses can also be purchased via telephone, 1-888-814-8972, or online at TWRA's website, tnwildlife.org.

• Who can purchase a resident license?
Anyone who possesses a valid Tennessee driver's license, anyone who has lived in Tennssee for 90 consecutive days with the genuine intent of making Tennessee their permanent home, military personnel on active duty in this state and their immediate families who reside with them, and students who are enrolled in a Tennessee school, college or university for at least six months.

• Who doesn't need a license?
Residents born before March 1, 1926 (proof of age and residency required), landowners, their spouses and children who hunt on farmland they own (must be residents of Tennessee but not required to live on the land . . . does not apply if farmland is owned jointly or in common by unrelated persons), resident grandchildren (under the age of 16) or resident great-grandchildren (under the age of 16) who hunt on farmland owned by their resident grandparents or great-grandparents, tenants, spouses and dependent children who hunt on farmland owned by an individual or family (must be residents and must reside on the land and have permission of the landowner to hunt), residents and nonresident youths under the age of 13 (hunters ages 10-12 need a hunter education certificate . . . Type 94 or Type 95 permit required for hunting on WMAs, regardless of age).

• Misplaced a license?
TWRA will replace licenses for a charge of $7. If the license was purchased at a license agent, a replacement may be obtained by going to any agent.

Hunting & Fishing Combo (Type 001): $28
Supplemental licenses are required for WMA hunts

Supplemental Licenses:
WMA Small Game & Waterfowl (Type 091): $51
WMA Small Game & Waterfowl 1-day (Type 092): $10.50
WMA Small Game Only (Type 093): 17

Sportsman/Permanent Licenses:
Annual Sportsman (Type 004): $136
All-inclusive license valid for hunting without any supplemental licenses

Junior Hunt/Trap/Fish (Type 002): $8
Ages 13-15 only. No supplemental licenses required, but Type 091, Type 092 or Type 093 permit required for WMA hunts.

Permanent Senior Citizen (Type 166): $11
Available for residents ages 65 or older. No supplemental licenses needed, but Type 091, Type 092 or Type 093 permit required for WMA hunts.

Annual Senior Citizen (Type 167): $41
Purchased by holders of Type 166 license to cover non-quota permits

Permanent Wheelchair License (Type 189): $10
Available only by application by calling 615-781-6585

Permanent DAV License (Type 198): $10
Available only by application by calling 615-781-6585

Lifetime sportsman:
Under 3 years: $200
Ages 3-6: $540
Ages 7-12: $810
Ages 13-50: $1,620
Ages 51-64: $945
Ages 65 and over: $270
All-inclusive license that doesn't require supplemental tags. Available only from TWRA offices or online at tnwildlife.org.


NON-RESIDENT LICENSES:
* Non-resident licenses are all-inclusive, with the exception of the WMA and special season permits.
