Outlook not great for SC turkey season
South Carolina's spring turkey season outlook is only "fair" according to the Department of Natural Resources, due to a poor reproductive year last year. Officials in the Palmetto State are blaming extremely dry summer conditions — not the Easter freeze or untimely spring rains — for poor survival of poults. Last year's woe follows on the heels of two years of poor production years, making the estimated flock of 90,000 going into this spring the lowest it has been in several years.
