Women In The Outdoors is an outreach program of the National Wild Turkey Federation. The program is designed to allow women an opportunity to ease into outdoors recreation by learning new skills and meeting people with similar interests.
Women In The Outdoors events are held throughout the nation, including in Tennessee, and are typically one-day events that are low-cost and designed to fit into women's busy schedules.
While hunting is generally stereotyped as a male-dominated sport, millions of womens across the country are discovering that hunting is fun and relaxing. But the Women In The Outdoors program isn't limited to just turkey hunting. Camping, hiking, fishing, shooting, canoeing, boating and bird watching are some of the other types of outdoors recreation covered by the Women In The Outdoors program.
Women interested in joining the Women In The Outdoors program may do so through the Longbeards of the Big South Fork chapter of the NWTF. A one-year membership is $25. With the membership, you become an official member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and receive a one-year subscription to the Women In The Outdoors magazine, a membership card and window decal.
A special "Women In The Outdoors" table will be set up at the chapter's Super Fund Banquet (February 26, more info) with a variety of prizes just for women who sign up for the program.
