Operation Oak

In 2005, the Longbeards of the Big South Fork will take part in the NWTF's "Operation Oak," a project that creates oak groves for the benefit of wild turkeys and other wildlife. Operation Oak is a project undertaken by NWTF chapters across the Southeast, including chapters in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. To date, Operation Oak has resulted in more than 4,000 oak groves being planted across the Southeast. Sometime in early 2005, the Longbeards of the BSF will plant more than two dozen white oaks on public land in Scott County. The location of the oak grove has not been determined.

Future projects undertaken by the Longbeards of the BSF will be announced on this page at a later date.
