The ongoing extreme drought impacting the Southeast may have caused setbacks at TWRA's hatchery in Normandy, but it isn't slowing down the agency's plans to stock trout this winter.
TWRA will make 19 stockings of trout this month alone, many of which were rescheduled due to the drought.
Tomorrow and Thursday will be busy days for TWRA, with stockings scheduled for Oneida City Park, Lake Graham in Jackson, McKenzie City Park, Martin City Pond, Reelfoot Packing Site in Union City, Kingston Springs Park, and Duck River at Fishermen's Park in Shelbyville tomorrow. On Thursday, TWRA has scheduled trout stockings for Athens Recreation Park, Cameron Brown Lake in Germantown, Collierville City Park, Munford City Park, and two lakes at Bartlett City Park.
On Friday, Nice Mill on the West Fork Stones River in Smyrna will be stocked.
Later this month, TWRA fisheries employees will stock Cane Creek Park in Cookeville (Jan. 23), Duck River at Riverside Dam in Columbia (Jan. 25), Harpeth River in Franklin (Jan. 25) and Shelby Park Lake in Nashville (Jan. 31).
A number of stockings are scheduled for February and March as well. For a complete list, click here.
