NASHVILLE — This fall's special season quota hunt permits have been mailed to successful applicants, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) announced Friday.
Hunters who entered for a fall quota hunt can check TWRA's website (tnwildlife.org) for their permit status before permits arrive via the U.S. Postal Service.
The agency alerted hunters who will be receiving permits that the permits were inadvertently printed to read that antlerless deer hunts are "shotgun only." In reality, all legal deer hunting weaponry is permitted for the special season deer hunts.
Leftover permits will go on sale Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. EDT. Those permits can be obtained from any license agent or online. No permits will be mailed for the purchase of extras; receipts from the purchase will serve as the permits. Each hunter may purchase up to five additional permits per county, but no more than 15 total additional permits.
Additional deer hunt permits are available in Chester, Grundy, Hardin, Haywood, Obion and Shelby counties. Additional turkey permits are available in Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Coffee, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Warren, Wayne, Williamson and Wilson counties.
