Tennessee's late-season youth hunt will be held this weekend to conclude the season; the deer hunting season ended for adults on Sunday.
The youth hunt will be held Saturday and Sunday, and is open for youths ages six through 16. The bag limit is two deer, either sex, in Units A and L, and one deer, either sex, in Unit B.
Hunters may use any weapon legal for deer hunting (gun, muzzleloader, archery). They must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, who must remain in position to take immediate control of the hunting weapon. The adult is not required to have a hunting license, but must wear the required 500 square inches of fluorescent orange.
Bucks taken on the hunt count towards the statewide buck limit; in other words, if a hunter has already taken his or her three bucks (two in Unit B), he or she must hunt for antlerless deer only during this hunt.
Hunters ages six through nine are not required to possess a license. Hunters ages 10 through 12 are not required to possess a license but must possess proof of having successfully completed a Tennessee Hunter Education course. Hunters ages 13 through 15 need the hunter safety proof and a junior hunt/fish/trap license. Hunters age 16 are required to possess the regular hunting and fishing license, as well as all required supplemental tags.
